Vastus Legends
Our Legends classes are for older individuals who want to take part in and benefit from CrossFit.

WHO ARE THE CLASSES FOR?
Whether you are new to fitness, a returner or an experienced participant our classes are for you. Designed for older individuals, they are delivered in a group format where each session is completely coach led, so you just turn up and we do the rest!
They are a great way to meet new like minded people, learn new skills, challenge yourself with new exercises, all while having a great time doing it.
What DO THE CLASSES INVOLVE?
Our classes, like the CrossFit methodology, are designed to develop your total fitness. They will include weightlifting and strength training, cardiovascular work, muscular stamina training as well as movements to develop and maintain balance, coordination and agility.
Each class includes a warm-up, workout and cool down as well as a broad mix of strength and skill based elements to keep your body moving and functional.
The classes are an hour long and are held three times a week.

What EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
We will use a wide range of equipment types, from rowing machines and bikes, to barbells and dumbbells, to ropes and pull-up bars.The range of equipment used enables us to make sure your body and mind are kept guessing and your training is kept interesting.

What SORT OF MOVEMENTS
ARE INVOLVED?
The range of movements is broad but all that are included are there to develop strength and ensure functionality in your body.
Regularly you will see deadlifts and squats, presses and pulls, as well as carries and some Olympic weightlifting movements - snatches and cleans. Whilst this might seem daunting, they are included to keep our mind and body learning new things and challenged in exciting and different ways. We are there with you every step of the way, so there’s nothing to worry about.
I have an injury and underlying health issue, can I still come along?
So long as your Doctor has said it’s okay for you to train, yes. We are experienced in working around health issues and injuries. The beauty of CrossFit is everything is infinitely scalable i.e. movements and workouts can be adapted and changed for every individual and ability level.

Who will be looking after me?
Classes will be led predominantly by Mandy Dawson. Mandy is a Master’s Athlete herself competing in the 65+ age group and coming 33rd in the world in the 2024 CrossFit Open. She has years of experience both taking part in, coaching and competing in CrossFit. She is a grandmother and retired school teacher. Read more about her here.
